Westley Manager to take on charity marathon

Meet Tom Slimm - Our Machine Shop Manager.

At work  - shaving microns off precision machined components - Outside of work - shaving minutes off his time ready for the Manchester Marathon taking place on Sunday 3rd April.

Months ago when his training began Tom’s original plan was to raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research -  a very worthy cause that will ultimately affect most of us.However, - Along with us here, you’ve likely been deeply upset by the invasion of Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis.

So the organisers decided to use this year’s Manchester Marathon to help support over a million people who have fled their homes in the conflict in Ukraine, and need emergency support such as food, water and healthcare.A small extra donation got Tom an additional special edition bib to be worn on runners backs showing the flag of Ukraine. The UK Government will match donations from the public pound-for-pound up to £20 million for the funds raised by the Disaster Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal, meaning their support will go even further.

If you’ve able, in even the smallest way - we would encourage you to click on Tom’s fundraising page and offer your support  - Thank you.
